Events for April
Love it or loathe it, there are a lot of golfers
out there. Aiming to to reach as many of them as possible is Logos
Golf Ministries: 'Taking the Word of God to the world of golf'. The
organization is a charity dedicated to helping Christians to use
their golf for a worthy purpose. 'We love the Lord and we know the
sport of golf.'
If that's you down to a tee, why not join Logos for
its National Golf Event in Tewkesbury this month. It takes the form
of a weekend (April 27/28) at Hilton Puckrup Hall on the edge of
the Cotswolds. The hall is set in 140 acres of parkland and has its
own 18-hole championship golf course and spa.
The event will be a opportunity for Christian
golfers to meet, hear about golf ministry and enjoy some friendly
competition.
The cost for the two days is £159 per person for
single occupancy or £129 per person for a twin. This includes one
night's accommodation, 18 holes of golf on Friday afternoon, dinner
on Friday night, breakfast, and 18 holes of golf on Saturday,
followed by a two-course meal. Dinner on the Friday evening will be
followed with a guest speaker.

Everyone agrees that the country has been let down
by bankers over the last few years, but where should we start with
reform? A weekend conference in Edinburgh aims to work out how to
make the banking system serve the interests of society, rather than
the other way around. Just Banking (April 19/20) has been organised
by a number of groups (Friends of the Earth Scotland, Christian
Aid, the New Economics Foundation, the Scottish Trade Union
Congress, the World Development Movement and Unison) and will take
place at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
Speakers include Adam Posen, member of the Bank of
England's Monetary Policy Committee, Ann Pettifor of Policy
Research in Macro Economics, Michael Meacher, MP and Richard
Werner, a professor of International Banking. Prices range from £5
for evening only to £100 for a full pass. See www.
justbanking.org.uk.
We like an art exhibition at Third Way and welcome
the arrival of Engedi Arts in Colwyn Bay. The community group
launches with an Easter Story Exhibition (March 30 - April 8),
which will host national and local artists in a diverse range of
media. See www. engediarts.com for more news.
