Way In
Breakdancing Jesus
A giant mural
of Jesus breakdancing has been unveiled on a wall in Bristol. The
piece is inspired by a visit to the Vatican by a group of
breakdancers. It took the artist Cosmo Sarson a week - and more
than a kilo of glitter - to complete after he won the prestigious
commission, which stands opposite a locally-famous Banksy
image.
Jamie Pike, who commissioned the image, said: 'Breakdancing
Jesus represents everything Bristol should be proud of. We
have a history of religious tolerance, incredible cultural
diversity and a vibrant creative history. Breakdancing
Jesus is a celebration of that.'
Sean Redmond, a competition judge, added: 'The work raises
questions about how Christ would interact and communicate with
contemporary culture if he returned today.'
